  • Flightline comes in as a huge favorite priced at -220

  • The horse with the second shortest odds Epicenter pays $60 for every $10 bet

  • Epicenter has finished 1st or 2nd in each of his last eight starts

  • Life Is Good pays out big at nearly 9-1 odds and has won nine of his ten starts

BetOnline was the first to release 2022 Breeders Cup Classic odds once the entries were made official on Monday.  The Breeders Cup Classic goes off this coming Saturday November 5 at 5:40 pm ET.

Flightline -220 - He's a pretty hefty favorite requiring a $22 bet to win $10.  You get that $22 returned just as long as he's a winner.

Flightline is a 4-year old colt that has raced in 2021 and 2022.  He's finished first in all five of those starts.

His most recent wins were the 2022 Pacific Classic (G1), 2022 Metropolitan (G1) and 2021 Malibu (G1).

Flightline, ridden by jockey Flavien Prat, won the Pacific Classic by an astonishing 20 lengths.

“When we went into the final turn, he was traveling so well I asked him to pick it up a little bit,” Prat said. “As soon as I looked back and saw how far in front he was, I wrapped up on him. Obviously, this is the best horse I ever rode.”

“You saw a really top horse run against some very good horses,” trainer John Sadler said after the race that guaranteed him a place in this coming weekend's Breeders Cup Classic. “We’ve always felt he’d be better the farther he ran. He was bred to run a classic distance. Because of his setbacks early in his career, he hasn’t run at this distance until now. Remember this is just his fifth race, which makes it so special.”.

Epicenter - With the second shortest odds, Epicenter pays out $60 for every $10 bet.  He's finished in the top two positions in his last eight starts, including second place in both this year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

He provided the first ever win for trainer Steve Asmussen at the Travers Stake.

"We walked over today with a tremendous amount of confidence in the horse," said Asmussen after that big win, "but definitely remember we felt exactly that way walking over for this year's Derby. He was away cleanly and thought he was very comfortable and attending close enough to the pace, and just ran a very dominating performance against a very good group."

Life Is Good - At +850, the payout is $85 for every $10 bet.  He's a great bet at this price having won all but one of his ten races.  His one loss was a second place finish in the 2021 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1).

This year's Breeders Cup will take place at Keeneland, perhaps improving the chances for rain when compared to past Breeders Cup races run in California. As of Monday, Saturday's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies but scattered showers are in the forecast for Sunday.

We bring this up because Life Is Good enjoyed a big win in the slop at Woodward.

“Part of his brilliance is being able to go fast and keep going," trainer Todd Pletcher told the New York Racing Association. "It was the logical tactic for today, but I don’t think it’s his preferred running style. His real weapon is his high-cruising speed and the ability to keep going.”
