“Fantasy sports have become very popular in my district and across the commonwealth,” said Senator Ryan McDougle. “Over a million individuals play fantasy sports now just in Virginia.”

McDouble has introduced a bill that would allow Daily Fantasy Sports in the state while adhering to set regulations.

FanDuel recently released a statement on Virginia’s legislation, saying, in part:

“FanDuel, led by our fans, will continue to work with lawmakers everywhere to establish laws ensuring players are protected and can continue to play the games they love.”

A number of other states including New York, Illinois and Nevada have taken an antagonistic stance against the sector in recent months.
