San Francisco medical examiner identified five victims in a grizzly early Friday morning slaying as Hua Shun Lei, 65, and Wan Yi Xi, 62, who were married, and their children Vincent Lei, 32, and Ying Xue Lei, 37. The other victim was Chia Huei Chu, 30, the girlfriend of Vincent Lei.  All were found brutally murdered in an Ingleside district home.

Sources told the San Francisco Chronicle that the motive for the murders was related to a gambling debt.

Police arrested 35-year-old Binh Thai Luc and charged him with five counts of murder.   It was also revealed on Monday that Luc was supposed to have been deported back to his native Vietnam six years ago after serving prison time for an armed robbery.  The suspect is known to have “ties” with a Vietnamese gang.

“Unfortunately there are some countries that people are very difficult to remove people to, and Vietnam is one of those countries,” ICE’s deputy press secretary Gillian Christensen told The San Francisco Chronicle.

The carnage was so severe that police had not determined whether the victims were shot, stabbed or killed in another way.   The medical examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of death, although police said Sunday the victims appeared to have been killed by blunt force trauma.
