Online Sportsbooks: Heroes Shuts Down, WSEX Might As Well Too

An obscure little “fly by night” online sportsbook called Heroes, supposedly operating out of the Dutch Antilles island of Curacao, has shut down leaving a number of players stiffed.

“Heroes owes me around 5k and is offline,” one customer harped following the shop’s sudden closure.

Gambling911.com stays clear of unproven online sportsbooks and only recommends established sports betting companies with deep pockets since advertising on the site is at a premium.

One online posting forum claims it has received complaints whereby some $172,000 in total is owed to their respective readers.

Heroes Sportsbook was reportedly co-owned by a former co-founder of Oasis Casino, itself having a long time presence in Curacao before being acquired by World Wide Tele Sports a few years back.

Meanwhile, on the World Sports Exchange front, that struggling Antiguan-based online sportsbook shows little sign in getting its act together with some customers claiming to be owed for more than 6 months now.

Jay Cohen co-owns this company.  He served nearly two years for violating the “Wire Act”.  Cohen would routinely bash his competitors on various posting forums prior to his prison stint.  At that time, however, WSEX did enjoy a stellar reputation.  It is widely believed the company is broke and may have had significant funds with now closed Stanford International Bank in Antigua.  Cohen denied to Gambling911.com that Stanford conducted business with gambling firms due to deeply rooted religious beliefs.  Of course, Jay Cohen’s word is about as good as Stanford’s back when he was touting his “get rich scheme”.
