NEWARK (Associated Press) - A motion has been filed in a federal appeals court that seeks a rehearing of last month’s ruling rejecting New Jersey’s sports betting law.

The New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association filed the appeal Tuesday with the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. The association is a party in the case, along with the state Legislature and Gov. Chris Christie.

The appeals court judges wrote in a 2-1 decision last month that New Jersey’s law allowing sports betting at racetracks and casinos would violate federal law.

Tuesday’s appeal seeks to have the decision reviewed by the full appeals court.

The four major pro sports leagues and the NCAA sued in 2012 to stop sports betting from being legalized in New Jersey. Currently only Nevada allows betting on individual games.
