Council admitted to making 36 withdrawals totaling $63,000 from her campaign account for the purpose of gambling. $36,000 of those funds were ultimately returned.

State Attorney General Jon Bruning had received a tip from law enforcement. He examined casino video and bank records and found that Council spent a lot of time at the slots and tables at the Sac and Fox Casino in northeast Kansas, according to WOWT TV.

Council stated:  “I have a gambling problem. I didn’t deal with it appropriately. Instead, it caused me to commit a grave error in judgment.”

She is currently running for re-election.
