The House Financial Services Committee chaired by Barney Frank (D-Mass) has confirmed that HR2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act, will again be debated on July 21st.

The starting time is scheduled for 1 pm EST.

"The i-gaming lobby has been working too hard for too long. It deserves more than a hearing," said Joe Brennan, Jr., head of The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association, an industry trade group. "But, we’ll wait and see who will appear as witnesses. I’d like to see John Pappas finally get the opportunity to appear before the House Financial Services Committee and make the case for the players.”

Pappas is the Executive Director of the Poker Players Alliance, another industry trade organization focused exclusively on the poker sector.

Pappas had this to say regarding the upcoming hearing: “We appreciate Chairman Frank calling another hearing on HR 2267. We hope this is the final step toward an eventual vote in his committee on this legislation before the August recess. The PPA and the poker community stand ready to secure its passage.”

HR2267 would look to amend title 31, United States Code, to provide for the licensing of Internet gambling activities by the Secretary of the Treasury, to provide for consumer protections on the Internet, to enforce the tax code, and for other purposes.
