HR 2267 bill passed in subcommittee Wednesday with a 41-22 vote.  HR 2267 looks to amend title 31, United States Code, to provide for the licensing of online gambling activities by the Secretary of the Treasury, and to provide for consumer protections on the Internet as well as to enforce the tax code.

The bill was authored by Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass).

Two Republicans and one Democrat opposed the legislation earlier in the day: Spencer Bachus (R-Alabama), Joe Baca (D-California), and Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota).  As Gambling911.com has previously reported, Bachus, in particular, has been the online gambling industry’s biggest opposition to Frank’s bill (with its various reincarnations)  over the past year.

It had appeared prior to the scheduled roll call that the markup would take place.

The official roll call vote took place at 3:20 pm EST.
