A beloved Costa Rican bookmaker has passed away over the weekend of an apparent heart attack.

Fernando, formerly of Hollywood Sportsbook and most recently the head bookmaker for BetPhoenix, suffered a heart attack while playing in a poker tournament.

Fernando was of Argentine decent and will be missed by many.

"He was one of the best," a colleague said.  "A real stand up guy.  Everyone liked Fernando."

For a number of years, Fernando was a successful bookmaker for Hollywood Sportsbook, prior to its sale two years ago.

The funeral was taking place today (June 16).
