Talk about keeping everyone on edge.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has once again waited until the final minute to make a decision regarding Internet gambling.
It was almost two years ago that Christie vetoed a bill that would have allowed New Jersey residents to place bets online within the state’s borders.
Since that time, authors of the measure have addressed the Governor’s concerns, which included worries over increased gambling addiction due to the ease of access.
Christie still has his concerns but he remained noncommittal on Wednesday.
“My due date’s tomorrow so my homework’s due tomorrow,” said Christie. “I have thoughts for and I have thoughts against and I have to reconcile those and I will when I have to turn my homework in.”
Christie can sign or veto the measure. Should he fail to act, the bill will automatically become law. The Governor has never allowed a bill to become law by default, however.
