Gambling911.com reported just the other day on how Web-based sportsbooks such as Northbet were starting to enter the Fantasy Football fray.  Now comes word that gambling giant Cantor Gaming will be offering its own Fantasy Football variant.

And, yes, there is gambling involved.

Rosters will include one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers (or tight ends), one kicker and one team defense. Players can wager to win up to $2,000 per bet (with -110 juice on both fantasy teams) and also have the option of passing on the point spread that Cantor has created.

“We’re all about account wagering,” said Colbert. “We think that betting at the sportsbook counter is a thing of the past. We still take bets at the counter, but this stuff is all done electronically. For a product like this to be really popular, you have to let people play from home. You can’t make them come to the casino for this stuff. They want to do it from the comfort of their home or when they’re out and about.”

As for Northbet, this will be the boutique-styled online sportsbook’s second season offering free weekly contests to all of its customers.  The weekly contests use a salary cap format that allows customers to choose the players they want to fill a weekly roster without exceeding the salary cap value.  Unlike traditional fantasy football with long drafts and the fear of season-ending injuries, Northbet’s weekly contests let the customer start fresh every week with a new chance to win.  Prizes range from $500 - $5,000 for 1st Place, $250 - $2,500 for 2nd Place, and $100 - $1,000 for 3rd Place.  You can learn more here
