The stabbing deaths of two female Canadian tourists outside the Bally’s Atlantic City casino hotel has left tourist officials stunned and dismayed Monday.

Both women, ages 80 and 47, were killed during a Monday morning robbery.  Neither victim has been identified.

Police Officer Jacob Abbruscato was patrolling the area where the attack occurred and rushed to assist the victims.

Abbruscato drew his service weapon and ordered the suspect, Antoinette E. Pelzer, 44, of Philadelphia, to drop her knife and get on the ground, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer

Pelzer complied and was taken into custody. Police said she has a Pennsylvania driver’s license, but may have been living in the resort town.

“We are outraged by this random crime and saddened by the loss of two of our Canadian visitors. Our condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends. The safety of our residents and visitors is of the utmost importance to everyone here,” said Jeff Guaracino, a spokesman for the Atlantic City Alliance

The stabbings of the two women are the third such deadly attack on Atlantic City tourists in the last two years with Craig Arno, 44, scheduled to be sentenced this Thursday for the May 2012 murder of Martin Cavallero, 47, of North Bergen.  He was stabbed to death during a carjacking from the parking garage of the Trump Taj Mahal.

Three Camden men are awaiting trial in the carjacking and shooting death of Sunil Rattu, 28, of Old Bridge, who was abducted along with his girlfriend from the same parking garage in September 2011.
