You can bet this year’s Super Bowl from anywhere in California. Las Vegas sportsbooks do not allow those living in California to place bets online from their homes yet however so residents have a variety of internationally-based online sportsbooks from which to choose from, many of which have been in business already for nearly 20 years, including BetOnline (established 1999).

California is the world’s 8th largest economy and the United States most populous state with a population of nearly 39 million.

There are four NFL teams based in the state.  California’s most successful team at the moment – the Raiders – are likely to be moving to Las Vegas but will probably maintain a significant chunk of its ravenous fan base should they do so.

It’s likely that the LA Rams will become a marquee team in the years to come while the San Francisco 49ers start the rebuilding process.  Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how fans will embrace the relocating Chargers as they, too, head to Los Angeles.

The Super Bowl is the single most wagered on sporting event of the year in North America and tends to attract folks who might otherwise never watch a single sporting event the rest of the year.  Additionally, individuals who tend not to gamble will place small bets on the big game.

Much of the state, the northern portion at least, is comprised of approximately 40 percent 49ers fans and half of that number Raiders fans.  It will be interesting to see how these dynamics change with the relocation of the  three NFL teams directly affecting California.

Bookies thrive throughout the state.  The penalty for simple gambling is considered a misdemeanor.  Many local bookies opt to utilize offshore Pay Per Head services in order to run their business outside of the state.
