Cam Newton threw for two touchdowns and ran for two others, and Carolina's big-play defense stifled Arizona's top-ranked offense in a 49-15 romp Sunday for the NFC championship.

Newton helped propel the Panthers to a near perfect season, only losing a single game.

Newton is developing so much respect that even his opponent in Super Bowl 50, the veteran Peyton Manning, has praised the Panthers starting quarterback as the face of the NFL the next eight to ten years.

"Anything the Sheriff says, you can probably ink it in gold," Newton said with a smile, referring to Manning's nickname.

As for Manning, his odds of being named Super Bowl 50 MVP were set at +250 for a payout of $25 on every $10 bet.
