Texans vs. Ravens Betting Line – Week 3: Baltimore 2 Point Win Pays Both Sides

The Texans vs. Ravens betting line for Week 3 had Houston as a +1.5 underdog at some books and +2.5 at others.  This presents a middling opportunity for anyone believing Baltimore could win here by 2 points.  SportsBettingOnline.com offered Baltimore at -1.5 while WagerWeb.com featured a line of Houston +2.5. 

The odds of a 2 point win are not especially high, however, there are combinations that allow for such a margin (i.e. a two touchdown win vs. four field goals or 14-12).  We did have such a win last week with the Saints beating Tampa Bay 16-14 (1 touchdown, 3 field goals vs. 2 touchdowns). 

The Ravens are 3-1 vs. Houston since 2010.  They may be seeking revenge after they lost in the last meeting badly.  Better still for those backing Baltimore, they are 34-7 in regular-season home games under head coach John Harbaugh.

The Texans are 0-5 Against The Spread in their last 5 games following a Straight Up win.   They are also 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.

The Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game. 

Baltimore had one of its worst outings in franchise history playing at Denver during Week 1 while Houston has had to rally from behind to win their first two games.  The Ravens rebounded to beat Cleveland, but that’s not saying much. 

The defense is allowing an uncharacteristic 384.5 yards per game (tied for 21st in the NFL).

An important injury note:  Ray Rice may not be able to play for Baltimore Sunday.
