Super Bowl 49 Morning Line: Vegas Books Hold at Pick’em, Bookmaker -1

The Super Bowl 49 morning line was coming in at New England -1 at nearly 90% of the online sportsbooks with only a few minor variations noted.  Nonetheless, these variations are taking place at two of the Web’s biggest books.

Sportsbook.ag had the Patriots at -1.  This is a recreational book with extremely high volume, mostly from “squares” or small every day gamblers.

BetOnline.ag follows a similar business model as Sportsbook, however, their lines tend to be more aggressive.  They were at a PICK’EM with their Super Bowl 49 morning line.

Then there is the sharpest of the sharp books, Bookmaker.eu, which for the past 14 hours had held onto the Seahawks -1.

Gambling911.com has seen at least one online books offering the Patriots at -1.5 Sunday morning.

It’s interesting to note that most of the Las Vegas sportsbooks, including Westgate, Stations and the Mirage, were offering Super Bowl 49 as a PICK’EM (or with EVEN odds) Super Bowl morning.

73% of the spread action was coming in on New England in North America whereas the European bookmakers appeared to have slightly more action coming in on Seattle, though there was a tendency for nearly all those books to offer both teams priced around -110.

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
