Two division rivals will look to advance further in the 2018 Playoffs as both suffered stinging losses in Week 17.

While the two teams had already secured a post season berth, both were jockeying for a more favorable spot.  The playoff-bound Saints (11-5) entered the day hoping to clinch their first NFC South championship in six years. They wound up winning the title despite their loss to the Buccaneers, with Carolina (11-5) losing its regular season finale at Atlanta.

Drew Brees, the most accurate passer in NFL history, took back the NFL record for completion percentage on Sunday against Tampa Bay despite the loss.  Brees completed 22 of 30 throws for 238 yards to finish at 72 percent completion percentage for the season, knocking off Bradford's mark of 71.6, set with the Vikings last year.

"Completing passes, they're positive plays," Brees said. "Positive plays are good, positive plays move the chains, get you into third-and-manageable situations, which increase your odds of conversion, which increases your chance of scoring points."

Cam Newton expressed frustration following Sunday's loss, and with good reason.

“We just have to understand a game like this and games moving forward, (receivers) aren’t going to be scot-free,” Newton said. “So as a whole, from throwing the ball, catching the ball, we have to make contested catches and maximize the opportunities that we do get.”

Newton’s 0-for-9 passing start was the worst in team history and the worst in the NFL since the Falcons’ Matt Ryan went 0-for-his-first-9 in his second career start against Tampa Bay in 2008.
