Panthers-Broncos Super Bowl 50 Line Opens Carolina -3.5: Moves to -5.5 Some Books

BetOnline wasted little time posting an early Panthers-Broncos Super Bowl 50 line of Carolina -3.5 well before the NFC Championship game had entered into Halftime.  Immediately following Carolina's win, online sportsbooks moved the line to -4.  By Monday afternoon, most books had moved the line to -4.5 and even as high as -5.5 by Monday evening (Sportsbook.ag).

Gambling911.com had predicted, following the Broncos win over New England, a line closer to Denver +1 and nothing over +2.5.  The Panthers 49-15 victory over Arizona was looking like oddsmakers could be keeping this line above 3.

“We do expect this Super Bowl 50 line to settle in within the +1 to +2.5 range for Denver,” Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com predicted at the start of this game.

"I may be eating my words now," he added at its conclusion.  "We still believe the line should be closer to -2.5 Carolina and this is an example of the oddsmakers shading the number."

Some Vegas books had opened at Denver +3, moving swiftly down to +2.5.  That didn't last long, however.
