Ohio State University odds of winning the 2015 National Championship were now 40-1 following a season ending injury to starting quarterback senior Heisman Trophy hopeful Braxton Miller.  He re-injured his throwing shoulder in practice on Wednesday.  OSU had been listed at 10-1 odds previous to the injury.

Miller won 22 of 24 starts, earning himself back-to-back Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors.  His team was entering the 2014 season ranked 5th in the nation prior to the injury.

The Buckeyes will turn to redshirt freshman QB J.T. Barrett to replace Miller.  Barrett was a four-star prospect out of Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Revised OVER/UNDER season win total betting odds were not immediately available for the Buckeyes at the time this was going to press.

Ari Wasserman of the Cleveland Plain Dealer says Miller simply cannot be replaced.  But that doesn't mean Ohio State won't win games.

(So) Urban Meyer was right in not even trying to pretend that J.T. Barrett can do the same things as Miller. No jukes. No spins. No hurdles. None of that exists anymore in Ohio State's offense.
But Meyer has a message, one he firmly believes – the Buckeyes aren't dead because Miller has been lost for the season.
"The quarterback is an important cog," he said Wednesday. "But that's exactly what it is – a cog. It's not the team."
