This one goes off Saturday, 8:30 pm Eastern

Two teams hoping to be improved this NFL betting season meet on Saturday night in Chicago as the Bears host the Oakland Raiders in preseason action.  Chicago has a new offensive coordinator in Mike Martz and it is expected that he will give new life to Chicago’s offense.  Whether or not he can get starting quarterback Jay Cutler to avoid throwing interceptions is another story.  On the other side of the field the Raiders have a new quarterback of their own in Jason Campbell and he is a huge upgrade over JaMarcus Russell.

This game is a pick at SBG Global with a total of 33.5.

The first half of this football game should be good with both team’s starters getting some decent work. The second half might be more of a who’s who with backups all over the field.  The Bears did not play well last week in a 25-10 loss to San Diego while the Raiders played were not much better although they did get an ugly win over Dallas.  Backup running back Michael Bennett rushed for 68 yards in the victory and the Oakland defense notched six sacks against the Cowboys.

Both teams have injury issues in this game at the backup quarterback position.  That would mean nothing in a regular season game but in the preseason it is very important. The Raiders will be without backup quarterback Charlie Frye but they have a lot more depth at the position than Chicago.  The Raiders have four quarterbacks on the roster and all have NFL experience.  After Campbell leaves the game it will be Kyle Boller and Bruce Gradkowski. On the other side the Bears are not as deep. They will be without their backup quarterback as Caleb Hanie is injured so they will be playing rookie Dan Lefevour after Cutler leaves the game and then mopping up with Matt Gutierrez who they just signed on Wednesday.  If you bet the Bears you better hope they have a nice lead after Cutler leaves the game.  The opening line on this NFL game favored the Bears but with Chicago’s shaky backup quarterback situation, bettors have been taking the Raiders.

The Raiders and Bears have met eight times in preseason history with each team having won four games.  They have not played in the preseason since 1991.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?

Bet on Jared Verse Draft Position

Jared Verse had an over/under selection number of 15.5 with CBS Sports believing the Florida State EDGE will be chosen by the Seattle Seahawks at No. 16.
