NFC Championship Game 2010 Odds

NFC Championship game 2010 odds were immediately published once it was known the Minnesota Vikings would be playing the New Orleans Saints.  The line opened at Saints -4 and had moved up within an hour to -4 ½ at Sportsbetting.com

"The NFC Championship Game promises to be among the most highly anticipated in years," stated Gambling911.com's own Senior Sports Odds Reporter, Don Shapiro.  "Here we have Brett Favre coming out of retirement and a lot of people will be rooting for the 40 year old while the New Orleans Saints are quickly becoming America's ‘new' team following the Katrina disaster.  A New Orleans win will be symbolic."

This will also be a matchup of the Vikings solid defense versus the Saints explosive offense, both of which dominated their respective opponents in the divisional round.

Brett Favre is headed to New Orleans to try to return to the Super Bowl at age 40, 12 years after his last appearance.  Minnesota hasn't gone to the Super Bowl since 1977; New Orleans has never been.

Both Minnesota and New Orleans crushed their opponents.  The Vikings beat Dallas by a score of 34-3 on Sunday.  Favre threw four touchdown passes, while the defense sacked Tony Romo six times and forced him into three turnovers.

"To win the way that we did doesn't mean anything going into next week," Favre said.

A day earlier, the Saints beat the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 45-14. Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes and Reggie Bush scored on an 83-yard punt return and a spectacular 46-yard run.

Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints threw three passing TDs on Saturday, to join Aaron Brooks as the only QBs in Saints history with at least three passing TDs in a postseason game.

Reggie Bush had 217 all-purpose yards and joined Charlie Trippi (1947 NFL Championship) as the only players in postseason history with rushing and punt return TDs in the same game.

Brett Favre threw four TD passes for the first time in a playoff game -- including three to Sidney Rice -- and the Vikings advanced to their first NFC Championship Game since the 2000 season.  Rice s the first player in Vikings' franchise history with three TD receptions in a playoff game.

Minnesota sacked Tony Romo six times and forced three turnovers. Romo threw one interception and fumbled the ball three times, losing two of them.

This was the Vikings' second-largest margin of victory in a playoff game, while the Cowboys suffered their second-worst defeat in a playoff game.

The odds are somewhat stacked against the Minnesota Vikings coming into the 2010 NFC Championship game as all four of Minnesota's losses occurred on the road.  Something else to consider: The last time the Vikings won an NFC Championship Game on the road was at Texas Stadium on December 30, 1973.

The NFC Championship game will The game will air at 6:40 PM EST on Fox Sunday.
