New Orleans Bowl Ohio vs. Troy

This New Orleans Bowl: Ohio vs. Troy betting preview is courtesy of our friends at SBG Global.  This game goes off Saturday, 9:00 pm Eastern – ESPN.  The 2010 New Orleans Bowl spread had Troy a -3 favorite with a total of 57.5 at SBG Global.

Saturday night on ESPN will be the New Orleans Bowl with Ohio facing Troy.  Ohio will be trying for their first-ever bowl victory as they have played in four bowl games in the past and come up short each time. Last year the Bobcats lost to Marshall by a score of 21-17. Ohio should have won the MAC title this season but they inexplicably got blown out in their regular season finale against Kent State.  They will have a tough test on Saturday night against a Troy team that comes into the game playing very well.

Troy is making their third straight bowl appearance. They lost in double overtime last season to Central Michigan.  Troy is a high scoring team as they averaged 32.9 points per game this season and Corey Robinson threw for 3,320 yards with 24 touchdowns. Troy will be airing it out in this game since Ohio is far tougher against the run than they are against the pass. Troy has played in the New Orleans Bowl twice in history and is 1-1. They beat Rice in 2006 while losing to Southern Miss in 2008.

Ohio will be looking to run the ball on Saturday night as they average 169.2 yards per college football game on the ground.  Ohio doesn’t throw the ball that often but Boo Jackson can make plays if Troy focuses totally on the run. The problem for Jackson is that he turns the ball over as he had 16 interceptions on the season.
