New England Patriots Odds to Win 2014 Super Bowl at Near 8-1

As early favorites to win the 2014 Super Bowl, the New England Patriots still have great odds offering the sports bettor top value.  Their odds heading into the Divisional Playoffs were set at 8-1 at Bookmaker.

New England hosts the Colts in what should be a relatively mild home game considering what we’ve been going through in much of the US these past few days.  In fact, it could be downright balmy in the mid-50’s come game time.

The Pats were a -7 point favorite but the public was backing Indianapolis at around a 58 percent clip to at least cover.

Over the past decade, this has been one of the best non-divisional rivalries, especially with Peyton Manning going up against Tom Brady.  Wins by both New England and Denver this coming weekend and we’ll see that matchup again the following weekend to decide the AFC Championship.  For now, New England will need to take care of Andrew Luck.

Andrew Luck’s luck may run out though based on recent history where the home team has won the last five in this series dating back to 2008. Also we need to take into account that the Patriots were 8-0 at Gillette Stadium in 2013.

On paper, this looks like the easy test.  But the Patriots may have to play on the road for the Conference Championship assuming Denver beats San Diego.  The Chargers, we should note, match up especially well against Denver so nothing is certain there.  Yet when we consider San Diego playing in New England, those 8-1 odds of the Patriots winning the Super Bowl are looking mighty enticing.
