Mississippi vs. Memphis Odds

Mississippi vs. Memphis odds were available at SBG Global and Mississippi was coming in as the huge -17 ½ favorite as a road team

Mississippi was also getting the most action of any other team heading into Sunday.  The betting public was so confident in Mississippi that nearly 95 percent of money line action was coming there way even with a price tag of -900 while spread action was nearly 85 percent.

In none of the past six games between these two teams has Mississippi managed to cover the current 17 ½ point spread.  The last game these two played was won by Mississippi in a 17 point romp, however.

Memphis probably shouldn't be this big an underdog, but maybe the oddsmakers know something we don't.  Ole Miss just happens to be ranked 8th and this could make all the difference in the world.

Frank Murtaugh of the Memphis Flyer writes:

"The offensive line has one returning starter (Dominik Riley). The secondary is packed with athletes competing for four spots (five for the frequent nickel packages). But is there a game-changer among these units? (D.A. Griffin is a preseason all-conference selection, but as a kick returner.) The Tigers' media guide lists 16 defensive backs on the team's depth chart. Exactly two of them - Deante' Lamar and Alton Starr - are seniors. If a team can't protect the quarterback or defend the pass, scoreboards start smoking. Watch these units and you'll know early on how far the 2009 Tigers will go."

While the Rebels are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games, they are also 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games on turf.
The Tigers, meanwhile, are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as a home underdog of 10.5 or greater.
