This game was getting fairly even action though it was among the more heavily wagered on games being played Saturday with the underdog Michigan State getting slightly more action at +10 at betED.com.

Michigan State might not be such a bad bet.  After all, the away team has gone 8-2 in this series over the last 10 games.  Furthermore, Michigan State is 7-3 in the series and has won the last two.

The Spartans are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss.

Michigan State is not quite sure yet which quarterback to start in this game.

Shannon Shelton of the Detroit Free Press writes:

When Michigan State has the ball: Sophomore QB Kirk Cousins appears to have the starting job wrapped up for now, and he'll attempt to improve on his 65.7% completion rate (23-for-35, four touchdowns, no interceptions). Having receiver Mark Dell back could be a bonus. The Spartans' running game will need to improve - , the four main rushers have combined for just 276 yards on 70 attempts (3.9 yard average). The potential return of C Joel Nitchman from injury could be a boost for the entire offense. Notre Dame's defense will be happy to face a nonspread team today, but the MSU line and Cousins will have to be on guard against Irish defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta's tendency to blitz. Irish S Kyle McCarthy leads the team with 18 tackles and has two interceptions for 43 yards.

When Notre Dame has the ball: The Irish offense has become quite balanced with QB Jimmy Clausen connecting with WRs Michael Floyd and Golden Tate, while RB Armando Allen is a strong rusher. A strong offensive line has protected Clausen from being sacked and has given Allen room to run. MSU's secondary will have to cover the Irish receivers, while the linebackers should be busy with Allen. The defensive front will need to pressure Clausen to prevent him from making the deep pass.
