Maaco Bowl Utah vs. Boise State Line

Since opening at -17, the Maaco Bowl Utah vs. Boise State line has only dropped a half point heading into Wednesday’s game.  The Broncos were now -16.5 favorites.  Nearly 80 percent of the spread betting action and 90 percent of the money line action was on Boise State.   The OVER 60 was getting around 70 percent of the action.

Boise State comes into this game ranked number 10 with just one painful loss.  They were among the favorites to play in the BCS Title game.  Instead, the Broncos will face off against a two-loss Utah team ranked number 20.  Boise St. finished their regular season schedule with a 50-14 victory over Utah State on Dec. 4, hence the heavy action on the favorite here.

Utah starting quarterback Jordan Wynn won't be able to play due to shoulder surgery.  In his place will be backup Terrance Cain, who is actually 9-1 as Utah's starter.

Some important betting trends coming into the Maaco Bowl included:

The Utes are 4-0 Against The Spread in their last 4 bowl games as an underdog.

Utah is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 bowl games.

The Broncos are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 bowl games.

The Broncos are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss.

Boise State is 25-11-1 ATS in their last 37 games overall.
