Kansas City Chiefs Odds Alert: Father of James Winchester Shot Dead at Airport

The father of Kansas City Chiefs long snapper James Winchester was shot dead at Oklahoma City Will Rogers Airport Tuesday.  He was a Southwest Airlines employee.

Winchester, who joined the Chiefs last season, has snapped in all nine of this season’s games.   It was unlikely that he would be playing for the team when they host Tampa Bay this Sunday though an announcement was yet to be made to this effect.

An event of this magnitude is bound to affect a team’s mental performance.  Oddsmakers were yet to react to this tragedy as of late Tuesday.  The line on the Bucs-Chiefs game remained at KC -7.5.

Police and airport officials closed the complex after the 1 p.m. shooting and directed people inside the terminal to take shelter. At late afternoon, officers said the agency would begin moving people outside of the building, which handles between 7,000 and 8,000 passengers daily for Alaska, Delta, Southwest and United airlines.  The suspect was believed to have been found dead.
