Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans Odds

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans odds were listed at Houston -3 ½ across the board though we were finding a handful of -4's.  The line opened at -4.  Hollywood Sports Book was offering this at Texans -3 ½ heading into Saturday.  More than 90 percent of the betting action was going Houston's way.  At press time this did not appear to be one of the more heavily bet on games of Week 3, though that could change as we inch closer to Sunday afternoon kickoff.

The home team has won the last four in this series.  Houston has gone 6-4 against Jacksonville.  Houston has blown out the Jaguars 4 of the 6 times they beat them, including their last meeting.   The most telling stat of all is that the Texans have blown out Jacksonville 4 of the last 5 times they have hosted them.  That includes the last three face offs.

The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. AFC South.

The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.

The Jaguars are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss.

They are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

The Jaguars are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. AFC.

Jacksonville is 2-15 ATS in their last 17 games on grass.

The Jaguars are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.

The Texans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. AFC South.

They are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

The Texans are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.

The Texans are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game, one of the rare negative stats for Houston in this scenario.

The Texans bounced back from a rough Week 1 loss to the Jets and rallied past Tennessee, 34-31. ... Jacksonville was defenseless against Kurt Warner and the Cardinals in a 31-17 loss.

Despite boasting impressive offensive talent and occasional strong results over the past few years, the knock on the Texans has been their inconsistency. After earning a big win vs. the rival Titans, Houston must show it has the maturity to avoid a letdown against the 0-2 Jaguars.

Johnson just could not be stopped by what was considered a solid Titans secondary. Now, he gets to face a Jaguars defensive backfield that allowed Kurt Warner to break the regular-season record for completion percentage (min. 20 attempts). To have any chance, Jacksonville cannot let Johnson roam freely down the field for long catches.

All stats point to another big Houston win though we suspect this one might be a little closer (within a touchdown) thanks mostly to the rushing of Jacksonville's aurice Jones-Drew.  We still fear Houston's inconsistency but Gambling911.com likes the Texans at -3 ½ here.
