Houston Texans Odds to Win the 2012 Super Bowl,

This could finally be the Houston Texans year with odds to win the 2012 Super Bowl at an impressive 18/1 (that’s a point longer odds than Indianapolis) and 2011 AFC South division win odds set at +150

Unfortunately Gary Kubiak remains at the helm as head coach and there is little to suggest he is capable of taking his team to that next level after missing a few opportunities in the past.  Houston, under his tenure, is among the most inconsistent teams.

Still, the Texans have talent, maybe more than they’ve ever had.

There is Andre Johnson as one of the best defenders in the league.  Last year he had 1,216 yards and nine touchdowns.

Matt Schaub is an above average quarterback who will have tons of weapons available.  Andre Johnson, Jacoby Jones, Kevin Walter and Owen Daniels are there at his disposal unless the injury bug comes into play.

Wade Phillips should help things along as defensive coordinator.  If this team doesn’t get its act together early on we see Kubiak the first head coach of the 2011 season to be fired.  Phillips might assume that role.

The Texans have been value winning the AFC South than the Colts, but only because of the price (a $100 bet pays $150 as opposed to having to bet $150 to win $100).  The value is only fair.

On paper, Houston should be able to beat the Colts at home, Miami (a team that has lost to Houston all five times they met) on the road, Oakland at home, Tennessee on the road, Jacksonville at home, Cleveland at home, on the road against Cincinnati, at home versus Carolina and at home against Tennessee the final week.  This is a 9-7 season for Houston on paper but they could find a way to screw it up, especially if Kubiak is still coaching by season’s end.  There is also a game in Jacksonville that could prove winnable.

The oddsmakers have the same exact mindset that we do and have given Houston an OVER/UNDER of 9.  We were hoping for 8.

Future Betting Value Index:

Houston Texans to win the 2012 Super Bowl 18/1 – Poor

Houston Texans to win the AFC South +150 – Fair

Houston Texans to win OVER/UNDER 9 regular season games - Poor
