Giants vs. Vikings Line

While a number of online sportsbooks have taken the Giants vs. Vikings line off the board, some continue to offer odds on this game.  Those that do have consistency with New York a -2.5 favorite.

The reason for the line being taken down, Brett Favre has an injured shoulder and might not start on Sunday.

Favre has started in 297 straight games to date.

"It really hasn't crossed my mind this week that I've got to get out there to keep the streak going," Favre said. "I think the most important streak right now is we've won two in a row."

And like the Dallas Cowboys, who stand virtually zero chance of making the Playoffs, Minnesota looks to play the role of spoiler as the Giants attempt to stay atop the NFC East (tied with Philadelphia).  Minnesota comes into this game having won two straight games under their interim coach Leslie Frazier but are two games under .500.

Having Favre out there will likely improve their odds of beating New York.

"Brett Favre is so, so unique when it comes to recovering from injuries," Frazier said. "I'm optimistic that he will be out there playing on Sunday."

Minnesota has won all four games in this series dating back to 2005, and with Brett Favre added to the mix, Gambling911.com gives the Vikings a strong edge here.

Some important betting trends for the Giants vs. Vikings game appear below.

The Giants are an impressive 7-1 Against The Spread in their last 8 games as a road favorite of 0.5 to 3.0.   Overall on the road, the Giants are 10-3 ATS.  The Vikings, meanwhile, are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 home games but are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as a home underdog.  The dagger trend here that gives New York a slight edge is that Minnesota is 6-19-2 ATS in their last 27 games as an underdog of 0.5-3.0. (edge: Giants)

The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record.  The Vikings are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record but overall are 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.  (edge: Giants)

The Giants are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a SU win of more than 14 points.

Past head-to-head history strongly favors Minnesota in this matchup, enough so that the aforementioned trends may not be enough to give New York any type of edge here.

The Giants, we should note, were getting over 95 percent of the betting action on the spread as of Wednesday evening.
