Giants-Patriots Spread Has New York Getting 60 Percent of Betting Action

“With nearly any other NFL regular season game, the 60/40 spread betting action wouldn’t have much of an effect on the books,” notes Don Shapiro, Head Sports Writer for the Gambling911.com website. “With the Super Bowl, this is akin to one side getting 90 percent of the action.”
While that may be true, the amount of action coming in on the line itself is generally offset by the vast number of prop wagering action. The public tends to lose overall with the prop bets.
Incidentally, the spread has moved between -2.5 and -3 over the past two weeks with little variation outside of opening at -3.5 in favor of New England.
In recent Super Bowls featuring the Patriots, each of those games were won by 3 points including the last meeting between New England and New York.
