The Eagles Super Bowl odds at CarbonSports.ag were coming in at 60/1.  Some pundits believe this Philadelphia team could turn things around relatively quickly to make the NFC East a four-team race to the Playoffs.

Oddsmakers, overall, have little confidence in the Eagles enjoying a winning season in 2013 with the UNDER 7.5 set at -130.

Here’s an interesting little tidbit:  The Eagles were actually the public favorite to win last year’s Super Bowl at some books coming into 2012.  Obviously, they provided a major letdown, much to the satisfaction of those particular bookmakers.

This year’s Eagles will be under the radar.  Early analysis has Philadelphia considered among the most “intriguing” teams.

ESPN.com provided its own analysis of Philadelphia’s key parts.  Should everything come together, this might prove to be a formidable Eagles team.

FLOP FACTOR3.0 (1-5 scale) New coach. New offense. New defense. The players have bought in to Chip Kelly (via Oregon) for now, but the schedule is challenging early. Things could go south in a hurry.

HOT SEAT
 - Whoever turns out to be the starting quarterback. There was no separation between Michael Vick and Nick Foles in the spring. One will emerge, but his hold on the starting job will be tenuous at best.

SECRET WEAPON
- Zach Ertz.  The Eagles used their second-round pick to draft the tight end out of Stanford. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Ertz has the size to create matchup problems for defenses. It is possible Kelly will use packages that included three tight ends.

KEY NUMBER8 - 2.8. That is the number of plays Oregon averaged last season and a number Kelly likely wants the Eagles to replicate. New England led the NFL last season averaging 74.4 plays per game.

One of Philadelphia’s biggest hurdles to overcome is their schedule.  They play only 6 games where the opponent had a losing season last year.
