Dolphins-Jets Spread

While the temperatures won’t be below freezing during game time, rain and wind will be a factor for the Dolphins-Jets game, which featured a spread of -5 in favor of New York.  The total on this game was 39 (dropping from 41 earlier in the week) with around 60 percent of the backing on the UNDER.  The Jets were getting around 60 percent of the spread action.

Both teams suffered losses last weekend.  The Dolphins fell 10-13 in a home game against the surging Cleveland Browns while the Jets were embarrassed Monday Night in Foxboro.

Some important trends to consider before betting the Dolphins-Jets game:

Miami is 3-1 both Straight Up and Against The Spread in the last 4 games of this series.  The Jets won their earlier game of the season in Miami.

Two key things to look at in regard to the Jets before betting this game is:  How do they perform after a Monday Night game and how do they perform after getting destroyed the week prior.

The Jets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss, but maybe more importantly, they are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games when playing on Sunday following a Monday night game.  The Jets are also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.

There are trends that strongly favor the Dolphins.

They are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss.

The Dolphins are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games as a road underdog.

The “it” factor in this matchup will likely be the weather.

One Jets fan quipped on the TheGanggreen.com posting forum:

“The last thing (Chad) Henne held that was icy and cold was a Shirley Temple on south beach”

But as we pointed out, the Dolphins should luck out by playing just before the cold snap hits.

Henne might actually be getting used to the cold as temperatures here in Miami dipped into the low 40’s last week with blustery winds and there is a chance we could get into the 30’s earlier this coming week.
