The Cowboys vs. Panthers spread had Carolina as a +2.5 underdog.  85 percent of those betting the spread were backing Dallas.  This game can be bet at BetOnline, which was offering up to $900 in FREE BETS when you join here today.

Tony Bryant had this to offer:  “The calculus suggests that the Cowboys should be able to take care of business in this contest. It's not that the Cowboys are special; everyone can see that Dallas is once again struggling this season. However, "struggling" doesn't even begin to describe the awfulness of Carolina Panthers football in 2012.

“It has been surprising to witness, but it is very hard to deny: Cameron Newton, the quarterback who seemed destined for greatness and might still perhaps attain lofty heights as an NFL player when all is said and done, has performed terribly this season. Newton's confidence is shattered. Defensive coordinators who had all offseason to break down game film have, at least for the moment, figured him out.

“Newton is no longer this mystery whom NFL defenses can't solve. He's been kept in the pocket, forced to make plays substantially with his arm, and denied access to running lanes. Teams have realized that Newton can't be allowed to get into open space as a runner.”

Dallas has won the last four in this series dating back to 2005.  The last meeting was in 2009.

An interesting trend to look at here is Dallas’ Against The Spread record when the line is between +3 and -3.  The Cowboys are 2-9 ATS over the last three seasons.  They are also 4-18 ATS as a favorite over this same period.  Against conference opponents they are 7-20 ATS.  When playing a team with a losing record, Dallas is 3-10 ATS.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
