Carolina Panthers 2014 regular season wins total betting odds were available at Sportsbook.com and was priced at -140 on the UNDER 8.5 with a payout potential of $11 for every $10 bet on the OVER 8.5.

This is a little surprising considering that the Panthers made it to the Playoffs last year with a stellar turnaround from seasons past.  Here’s a team that finished 12-4 in 2013 and now they are a favorite to win 8 or fewer games?  Say what?  Is Cam Newton out for the season?  What’s going on here?

Sure they’ll be playing some tough teams but, on paper at least, Carolina should easily be able to win 10 or more games assuming they haven’t lost some key components from last year.

The Fantasy Football previews were starting to come out.

And the verdict?

The reason for the reduced regular season wins total number in 2014 probably has a lot to do with the wide receiver position.  Steve Smith, Ted Ginn, Brandon LaFell, all gone.  This means Newton will have a new group of wide receivers to deal with.

Still, there is Jerricho Cotchery, whose best year was in 2007 and Jason Avant, who will be arriving from the Philadelphia Eagles.  He hasn't caught more than 53 passes, however.

In this division, Atlanta is a -115 favorite to win OVER 8.5 regular season games and New Orleans is a favorite to win the division and 10 or more regular season games.

The Tampa Bucs are priced at -115 for both the OVER and UNDER, meaning there is improvement anticipated in 2014.
