BYU BCS Championship Odds

A number of people in the sports betting community have jumped on board the BYU bandwagon, betting whether they will be BCS bound.

Sportsbook.com began offering odds on BYU (short for Brigham Young University) to win the 2010 BCS Championship game and the payout would be $2500 for every $100 bet.

BYU's claim to fame came during the first week of the 2009 College Football season when they upset number three ranked Oklahoma as a huge road underdog.

ESPN.com put it this way:

"With all the talk about Boise State crashing the BCS party, we can't forget about BYU. With its win over Oklahoma, the schedule sets up well for the Cougars. They have three games remaining against ranked opponents but all are at home and they would have a much better case than the Broncos if they ran the table."

So can BYU really take home a BCS Championship title?

Oddsmakers believe it is entirely possible.  In fact they have BYU with the same odds as California of winning the championship game.

Only Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas and USC have better odds of winning the 2010 BCS Championship.  BYU would pay more though...at least right now if the current odds are locked in at Sportsbook.com.
