Super Bowl went OVER the total, which helped a little but in the end the books took quite a hit with the Patriots coming back from a 24 point deficit to tie and bring the 2017 Championship into OT where they won with a touchdown.

65 percent of the public was backing New England, a substantial number for a Super Bowl game.

Prop wagers and IN-PLAY LIVE WAGERING helped to cut into the losses though local New England regional bookies were likely crushed.

This was the first overtime in Super Bowl history.
