It’s almost that time as bookies are gearing up for the competitive College Football season.  2016 kicks off Friday August 26 with Hawaii taking on California.  Then things really heat up on Thursday September 1 with over a dozen games on tap.

While there were plenty of college football teams that ended last season with ten or more wins, few were able to cover the spread more than ten times…..Good news for the regional bookies.

In fact, only four accomplished this feat in 2016: Southern Mississippi, Sanford, Washington State and Bowling Green.

If bookies weren’t stung by the side betting, OVER wins did take a bite out of one’s business as the public typically leans towards the high scoring outcomes.

Syracuse, for example, went 10-2 on the OVER while Texas Tech went 10-3, Indiana went 10-2-1, Western Kentucky and Air Force each went 10-4.  Arizona and New Mexico State each had 10-2 records on the OVER.

A Pay Per Head runs all aspect of the bookie business with the exception of handling financial transactions.  They charge a small weekly fee per customer (per head), often starting around $10.  In the long run, bookies and agents alike save money while minimizing the headaches involved in running such a business entirely on their own.

Utilizing contracting services is common in many successful industries.  In the case of a local bookie, the Pay Per Head provides a prudent means of adding that necessary layer of security, not just to protect from savvy sports bettors, but also by minimizing the potential of becoming victimized by criminal elements.
