However, the Italians do need to approach Spain cautiously and remain tactically sound. The Italians will need to approach the game in a similar fashion as to how they played against Germany. The utilization of a dangerous counter attack, employing Andrea Pirlo's wide passing range accompanied by the tactical awareness and trickery of Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano, can make Italy an extremely hazardous side. That being said, it is important that Italy stays disciplined and pressures the ball accordingly. If Spain dominates possession and the midfield for a long period of time, it will cause the Italians to drop deeper and deeper, limiting the opportunity for a counter attack.
An out-of-form Spanish side against an in-form Italian side should prove to be an intriguing encounter, as each side's opposing qualities can prove to be a match winner or a one-way ticket back home.
