PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Carlos Rodon (5-8, 3.91 ERA) vs. Twins RH Kyle Gibson (5-8, 5.17)

Rodon has put together a stellar five-start stretch during which he has gone 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA. He has allowed five or fewer hits in four of the starts.

He has allowed just 13 hits on 62 at bats versus the current Twins roster with four of those home runs.

Gibson settled for a no-decision in his last turn as he gave up four runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings against Toronto.  He has not been faring well at home.

But he has fared well against the White Sox, going 5-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in eight career starts, and is 1-1 with a 0.71 ERA in two outings this year.  Against the current White Sox starters he has allowed a single home run in 115 at bats.  He’s permitted just 16 hits over that period.

Most games in this series have gone OVER the current total but six of Rodon’s last ten starts overall have resulted in total runs scored UNDER 9.  The majority of Gibson’s starts have resulted in total runs scored above 9, however.

Tough to make a call on this one where the total is concerned despite both starters stellar results against the opposition.
