The Redskins finished last season 10-6 Against The Spread and 9-7 ATS the year before. Washington finished 5-11 ATS the prior year and we fear they could be back in this realm in 2017.

2017 Early Observations

While Washington made few splashes during the off season where players are concerned, they did fire general manager Scot McCloughan, who publicly battled alcoholism.  This was likely more of a power struggle however.

McCloughan though was reportedly well regarded by players.  He did manage to go 17-14-1 with a team that had gone 7-25 the two seasons before his arrival.

Then there’s the Kirk Cousins QB situation, from ESPN.com:

After franchising Cousins twice, Washington is 12 months from what could be a franchise-altering offseason. It will be cost-prohibitive to franchise Cousins a third time, and Washington will have to pay a staggering sum to keep him from hitting the free-agent market, where teams such as the 49ers and Browns will be willing to hit new heights to get a franchise quarterback without having to give up multiple draft picks or develop a quarterback. Cousins' leverage -- and the chances that Washington loses its starting quarterback while getting no more than a compensatory third-round pick in return -- grows with each passing day. By this time next year, Washington might have lost the two most important pieces of its organization.

The Redskins total regular season wins number dropped from 8.5 a few weeks back to 7.5 now and we still think it will be UNDER at -115.

BetOnline was offering odds on whether Zack Wilson becomes the next quarterback benched.  They had Wilson as a pretty big favorite.  Mike White will now assume the QB responsibilities, at least for this game. The Jets host Chicago, a team that is second worst in the league right now according to the Sagarin Ratings.  Our number is New York 6.77.
