2009 NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

Each week Gambling911.com combs three of its sponsor online sportsbooks to calculate its own 2009 NFL Power Rankings.  These are derived from three different sportsbooks odds to win the 2010 Super Bowl, then we calculate each of the odds to come up with a number that now ends up as part of our 2009 NFL Week 3 Power Rankings.

We also provide our readers with the best payout odds per online sportsbook.

The number in ( ) is last week's power ranking.

*1 (1) - New England Patriots - The Pats loose leverage after last week's loss in the Meadowlands but they are still the favorites to win the 2010 Super Bowl.  The best payout can be found at Bookmaker.com - $575 for every $100 bet.  The average price for New England was +525.

*2 (4) - New York Giants - At 2-0 and having beaten two division rivals, the Giants are looking about as consistent a team as can be found in the league.  They maintain their single digit odds to win the 2010 Super Bowl with the best payout potential found at SBG Global, offering up a $850 possible win on a $100 bet should they win the championship.  The average odds across the board came in at +775, so there was great value at SBG.

*3 (2) - Pittsburgh Steelers - They drop a notch with the odds ranging anywhere from +575 at Bookmaker.com to +1000 at Sportsbetting.com, obviously the best payout potential around for a $1000 windfall on a $100 bet.

*4 (3) - San Diego Chargers - With a loss at home to Baltimore and a near loss in Oakland the week before, it's a wonder the Chargers haven't lost more stock.  Sportsbetting.com has dropped them to double digits at +1000.  Their odds still average in at +815 however.

*5 (10) - New Orleans Saints - We warned you all that these odds would be slashed and they have been.  Last Week the Saints were promising a payout of up to $1500 for every $100 bet if they were to win the 2010 Super Bowl.  This week they were averaging around +892 odds with the best payout potential still found at Sportsbetting.com - $1100 for every $100 bet.  That's a steal we think but you need to lock these odds in now.

*6 (6) - Indianapolis Colts - The Colts maintain their position at number 6 even though their odds were slashed by as many as +225 points.  SBG Global had them with payout odds of $1000 for every $100 bet if they win the Super Bowl.

*7 (7) - Minnesota Vikings - They promised a payout anywhere from $700 to $1200 on a $100 bet to win the 2010 Super Bowl with the best odds listed at Sportsbetting.com.

*8 (5)  - Philadelphia Eagles - The Eagles are losing value fast mostly due to the injury concerns and last week's bad loss to the Saints.  Payout odds for the Eagles to win the 2010 Super Bowl were as enticing as $1500 for every $100 bet at SBG Global There is definitely value in those odds since the Eagles are widely expected to get their house in order quickly while the season is still young.

*9 (11) - Baltimore Ravens - 2-0 and looking solid.  Best payout odds could be found at Sportsbetting.com ($1000 for every $100 bet if they win the 2010 Super Bowl).  Odds were as short as +790.

*10 (15) - New York Jets - They move into the Top 10 this week with a 2-0 record.  Jets pay as much as $2000 for every $100 bet at Sportsbetting.com.

The remaining 2009 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings:

*11 (8) Green Bay Packers

*12 (14) Chicago Bears

*13 (9) Dallas Cowboys

*14 (12) Atlanta Falcons

*15 (13) Tennessee Titans

*16 (17) Arizona Cardinals - Tie

*16 (20) San Francisco 49ers - Tie

*18 (16) Seattle Seahawks

*19 (18) Houston Texans

*20 (23) Buffalo Bills

*21 (25) Denver Broncos

*22 (19) Washington Redskins

*23 (22) Carolina Panthers - Tie

*23 (26) Cincinnati Bengals - Tie

*25 (24) Miami Dolphins

*26 (28) Oakland Raiders

*27 (21) Jacksonville Jaguars

*28 (27) Kansas City Chiefs

*29 (31) St. Louis Rams

*30 (30) Cleveland Browns - Tie

*30 (29) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tie

*32 (32) Detroit Lions

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost the most stock during Week 2 while the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets were the biggest gainers.

Add this one to the WTF? Department:  The Atlanta Falcons drop two rankings despite going an impressive 2-0.

The Oakland Raiders probably should be rated better than the Washington Redskins (at #22) at this juncture in time considering their near win of San Diego during Week 1 and their beating Kansas City on the road last week.  Things should get interesting this week as the Raiders host Denver.  The Broncos have a shot of going 3-0 while the Raiders may be 2-1.  Either record will raise some eyebrows across the league.
