Thursday's FIFA World Cup action features Nigeria vs. Greece and a later game, Mexico vs. France.

Whichever team loses in the Nigeria vs. Greece showdown will likely be eliminated.  Nigeria is getting much of the action as a near even favorite at Sportsbetting.com (see website here)  25 percent of the backing was on Greece paying just better than 3/1 odds.  The draw would pay out US$22 for every US$10 bet.

France vs. Mexico is expected to be a solid matchup and a crucial one now that Uruguay is up 4 points.  Whichever team wins should move on to the next round.

The man who scored for Mexico in their draw vs. South Africa, Rafael Marquez, is doubtful for Thursday's game against France.

Marquez damaged his right calf during that game.

"All things considered, the result against South Africa was good for us," said Mexico goalkeeper Oscar Perez said. "We would have liked to have taken three points but it was not to be. We are not fully satisfied but we must look forward to our next game.

"France are an uncomfortable rival. They have experience. I don't think they will run like South Africa did but we must be prepared. France have players with a lot of quality that can change a game. We have two games left to play in the group stage and we must win both.''

The potential threat by France is not so evident in the betting patterns.  50 percent of the public is backing Mexico compared to 35 percent supporting France.  The draw was getting the remaining action.

Oddsmakers, however, have set the number on this game at +109 for France (paying slightly better than even odds) and +205 for Mexico (paying US$20.50 for every US$10 bet)

Argentina takes on South Korea earlier in the day.
