Germany was among the favorites to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup but that could all change with Marco Reus now ruled out for the big event.

Reus suffered a partially torn ligament in his ankle while take a tackle during a friendly between Germany and Armenia Friday.

This may be a bit of good news for Team USA, which faces Germany in Group G at very long odds.  Germany was still coming in at 5/1 at Sportsbook.ag.

"I do not have the words to describe what I am feeling at the moment," Reus said in a statement issued by his club Borussia Dortmund.

"A dream burst in just one second and now I need to look forward, be professional  about my recovery because I have to keep going. I will come back stronger than before.

"My best wishes to the whole team to achieve our goal without me."

The loss of Reus is significant as he scored 16 goals last season in the Bundesliga.
