One of the most popular betting markets of the past few days is who will be named the next head coach of the Michigan Wolverines college football program.

Sherrone Moore was fired after two years at the helm due to an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. That news came after “credible evidence” surfaced that Moore allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.  Biff Poggi will serve as No. 18 Michigan’s interim coach when it plays No. 13 Texas in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

BetOnline quickly released odds on who will become the next head coach of the Wolverines with Alabama's Kalen DeBoer coming in as the clear cut the favorite.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said this week: ‘It has to be DeBoer’.

“It’s got to be big,” Orlovsky said. “This is not something where you go find a coach that you think is good because you won’t chase down those other programs with just a guy.

“Some of the guys that are on lists are just good coaches.”

He doubled down suggesting Michigan doesn’t matter in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are chasing Ohio State, Indiana and Oregon.

“This has to be (Alabama coach Kalen) DeBoer,” he said.

DeBoer for his part last week tampered down expectations that he might be heading to another coaching position, that of Penn State.

“There’s never been any link,” DeBoer said. “There’s never been any conversation. There’s never been any interest either way. And I’m so glad we can put that to bed right now.”

The payout, should he land in Michigan, is sweet: $400 on a $100 bet

Jesse Minter pays $500 for every $100 bet while Joe Brady promises a payout of $600 on a $100 wager.

At the prediction market Kalshi, where over $1.4 million had been traded since this market opened, DeBoer is favored with around a 27 percent backing, but Washington's Jedd Fisch saw 26% of trades.  These numbers were actually flipping throughout the morning Friday.

Fisch pays $700 on a $100 bet at BetOnline with odds subject to change.

Fisch spent two seasons with the Wolverines as part of Jim Harbaugh’s staff from 2015-16 as the quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach and pass-game coordinator.

“Fisch likely would be able to spark a Wolverines offense that has been listless the past two seasons,” The Athletic's Bruce Feldman wrote about Fisch’s potential candidacy.

Below are your latest odds from BetOnline.  As noted above, these odds remain fluid and subject to change.
