The social gaming network Zynga is celebrating its 5th birthday – anniversary, whatever you want to call it - today July 2, 2012.

Zynga is best known to Gambling911.com readers for having the biggest online poker site in the world, albeit they don’t engage in any “real money” transactions, at least not yet.  That could change in 2013 however.  It claims about 7 million daily active users and 33 million monthly active users.

"What's exciting in the five years since we started is that we've helped put play back in people's day," Zynga founder Pincus Mark said. "It is now a regular activity that everyday people do every day. And that's cool and exciting."

Zynga stock closed Friday at $5.44 per share on the Nasdaq, slightly up for the day but still continuing a three-month slide from its price of $14.69 per share on March 2.
