With news breaking Monday morning that Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal will soon unveil its own real money online gambling site, casino mogul Sheldon Adelson can’t be too happy.

Adelson in recent weeks has come out publicly bashing the prospect of legalized Web gambling in the USA.

And then there is this little nugget…

Both Adelson and Donald Trump are two of the GOP’s most recognized backers.

Adelson donated millions of his own money to the last Republican Presidential campaign. Trump considered a run for President at one point.

The Taj Mahal has inked a deal with Ultimate Gaming to offer real money online gambling within the Garden State.  New Jersey passed a law in March that makes the activity legal within its borders provided the sites are based out of Atlantic City.  The state is also looking to forge potential compacts beyond its borders.

Adelson is enraged by the likelihood of gamblers placing bets from their own living rooms.  He practically stopped short of suggesting an Apocalypse.

“I have 2 teenage boys. They get addicted to everything that is on the TV,” Adelson said two weeks ago.  “When they talk about Gary Loveman only wants Poker. Gary Loverman and MGM have their own challenges. I do not have Challenges… We made billions of dollars last year. It is not a money issue with me. I think it is a train wreck. It’s really toxicity. It is a cancer waiting to happen.”

Apparently the Donald does not share Adelson’s views.

Ultimate Gaming became the first (and, to date, the only) Web gambling firm to offer real money online poker in the state of Nevada this year.  The company is owned by Stations Casinos and the individuals behind the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).  This arrangement would give Ultimate Gaming access to nearly 12 million US citizens (New Jersey and Nevada combined) with the prospect of even more people playing from neighboring cities like New York and Philadelphia provided they log on within the state.
