Celtics-Hawks Game 6

(April 27, 2023) - Atlanta won 119-117 in Boston on Tuesday despite playing without starting guard Dejounte Murray, the team's second-leading scorer.

"Now we've got to let it go and get ready for another one," Atlanta coach Quin Snyder said. "We lost Game 4 at home and we're going back for another one and we have to have the same mindset. We were different (Tuesday) than we were in Game 4."

An Atlanta victory would force a deciding Game 7 on Saturday at Boston.

Said Boston forward Jaylen Brown: "Our challenge is to get ready for the next one. We've been in situations like this before. You can't look around and point fingers. You have to take ownership of the situation. Got two chances to win one."

Atlanta opened as a +5.5 home dog and that line was +7 by early afternoon Thursday.

The Celtics are 5-0 Against The Spread in their last 5 games following a ATS loss but are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

The Hawks are 2-9 Against The Spread in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 17-38 ATS in their last 55 games following a ATS win.

Celtics-Hawks Game 4

(April 22, 2023) - The Hawks are back in business.  After losing the first two games of the series in Boston, superstar Trae Young scored a game record 32 points in a 130-122 victory Friday night. He also made 12 of his 22 shots from the floor and finished the game with nine assists and six rebounds.

"I know I can play like this," Young said. "Like I said last game, I wasn't worried. I knew I could play the way I need to. It's all about reading and making the right adjustments."

Friday's victory was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Celtics this season.

Beware Hawks bettors, the Celtics are 11-0 Against The Spread in their last 11 games after allowing more than 125 points in their previous game.

Celtics-Hawks Game 3

The Hawks come into Game 3 against the Celtics at home as a +5 dog.

Trae Young shot just 35% (14 of 40) during a pair of double-digit losses that put the Hawks in an 0-2 hole heading into Game 3 Friday night at State Farm Arena.

Boston has beaten Atlanta by well over the spread in the two playoff games.  They faced the Hawks on April 9 as well and also covered a -4.5 spread with a 120-114 win.

“I want Trae to be aggressive. He knows that,” Hawks head coach Quin Snyder said after Thursday’s practice. “I don’t want us to be deterred by the ball not going in and stop having that aggressive mindset — Trae in particular.”

Hawks-Celtics Game 2

(April 18, 2023) - Boston easily won and covered the 9.5 spread against Atlanta in Game 1 with a 112-99 victory.  We get a number not much off from that we had going into Game 1: 7.77 for the Celtics.

The second-seeded Celtics built a 30-point halftime lead in Saturday's series opener.

"Even though we were fortunate enough to win, you know we can be a lot better," Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game. "We can do things better. They got more offensive rebounds than us. We turned it over more. There's a lot of stuff there that we can just build on, so we're fortunate in that and we have to have the mindset that we can be better."

Hawks-Celtics Game 1

The Boston Celtics open as a big -9.5 favorite against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1.  We get a number of 7.52 when this game is played in Boston.  The Celtics have been pure gold for gamblers with their 57-25 record straight up and 45-36-1 record Against The Spread.  Atlanta, not so much.  They come into this game just barely over the .500 mark with a 36-46 ATS record.

Atlanta is covering the spread in 40% of their games currently, having just covered against the Heat to land them in the playoffs.  Boston is covering in 80% of theirs and have done so in their last three.

Using the current spread, Boston has covered in four of the last five games versus Atlanta.  The Celtics have covered using this number in three of their last four home games.  But the Hawks are 6-4 Against The Spread in the last ten meetings using the current number.

Ahead of this series,  Quin Snyder said he recognizes just what his Hawks will face.

"They're really connected offensively," said Snyder, who replaced Nate McMillan as Atlanta's head coach in February. "I think it's more than them just having a lot of weapons. I think they have a feel for one another and how they play together. You can see that in the way they play. Their reads are terrific and they (have) a lot of guys that can make plays and they want to do that for one another. Makes them really, really hard to guard.

"I think their versatility defensively is unique also. Some of their different lineups they can put on the floor. I don't know who the Defensive Player of the Year will be, but I know Marcus Smart ... I have tons of respect for him. I just think he's one of those guys that's a heartbeat. They're just really good."
