The Las Vegas Raiders open as favorites to land Michael Penix, Jr. in this year's NFL Draft with a pretty sweet payout of $300 for every $100 bet.

What People Are Saying

There is only one lefty signal caller starting in the NFL at the moment and that's Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa.  Penix Jr. will soon be joining that unique club.  Which team?  We don't know yet. While Las Vegas is favored, the pricing is competitive from 3-1 right on down to 9-1 (Vikings 4-1, Broncos 5-1, Seahawks 7-1, Giants 8-1 and Patriots 9-1).

ESPN describes Penix Jr. as "Tua with a better arm", and Tua is pretty good.

But like Tagovailoa, Penix Jr. tends to sustain a lot of injuries.  Penix Jr. suffered two ACL tears to his right knee that ended his 2018 and 2020 seasons.  He stayed healthy last season playing for Washington.

He threw for 4561 yards last year to go along with 31 touchdowns and a mere eight interceptions.

"He's just solid at everything," one AFC exec told ESPN.  This executive placed Penix immediately after Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels, and before McCarthy. "He can get streaky, but he's a good decision-maker who distributes the football well -- if a guy's open, he's going to find him. That, to me, is his secret sauce."

Speaking on Tuesday’s Silver and Black Today Raiders podcast,  NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger highly praised Michael Penix

This second endorsement from a seasoned NFL insider shows the various opinions on Penix and where he might be drafted, Scott Gulbransen of SportsNaut wrote.

Penix Jr recently interviewed with the Vikings.  They have the second shortest odds of landing him.

"It was great," Penix said of that meeting. "I feel like that's a good organization over there. I feel like they show a lot of good things, they've got a lot of good players as well. I felt very confident in that meeting.".
