Can it happen again?  So far the underdogs are 9-4.  The Hornets vs. Lakers line was coming in at -11.5 in favor of Los Angeles.  Can New Orleans cover a +11.5 point spread?  SBG Global has your NBA Playoffs Game 2 betting preview for this series.

This game goes off Wednesday, 10:35 pm Eastern – TNT

The New Orleans Hornets will try and pull off another shocker as they face the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. The Hornets stunned the two-time defending champion Lakers on Sunday, winning the first NBA playoffs game of this best-of-seven series 109-100.  Chris Paul shredded the Los Angeles defense and the Lakers had no answers.  Even though the Hornets won Game 1, they are big underdogs again on Wednesday night.

The Lakers are an 11.5 point favorite with a total of 187.5 at SBG Global.com.

The Hornets beat the Lakers by nine points in Game 1 but they don’t seem too surprised and they are very confident heading into Game 2.  The Hornets feel as if they have nothing to lose and they are playing like it. The Lakers won all four games against the Hornets this season and it was expected that Los Angeles would win this series easily. That is not the expectation anymore.

Chris Paul was unstoppable in Game 1 as he had 33 points and 14 assists for the Hornets.  The Lakers have a major problem in this betting series because they have no one who can guard Paul. Derek Fisher is not a good defender and his backup Steve Blake is no better. The Lakers may end up having to put Kobe Bryant on Paul if they are to win this series.

The Lakers got a good game out of Kobe Bryant in Game 1 as he scored 34 points but Pau Gasol was terrible as he had just eight points and six rebounds. Most of the Los Angeles press is blaming the loss in the first game on Gasol so he should come out fired up on Wednesday night.  There is no question that Gasol is the whipping boy in Los Angeles even though he has helped lead them to two NBA titles.

Here are the betting stats for Wednesday’s game. The Hornets are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. the Pacific. The Hornets are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 playoff games as an underdog. The Hornets are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Los Angeles. The Lakers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. the Southwest. The Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite.

The Over is 5-1 in the Hornets last 6 road games. The Over is 4-1 in the Hornets last 5 games as an underdog. The Over is 4-0 in the Lakers last 4 overall. The Over is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings in Los Angeles.
